This Privacy Policy explains how Quizza ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects
information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App").
By using Quizza, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
Email address – collected when you create an account with email/password.
Username – a display name you choose.
Password – stored as a one-way hash; we never store your plain-text password.
Apple ID – if you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and, optionally, your name and email as provided by Apple. We do not receive your Apple password.
Guest accounts
If you use the app as a guest, we create a temporary anonymous account. No email or personal details are required. Guest data may be deleted if you do not convert to a full account.
Game & usage data
Quiz answers, scores, and timestamps.
Game history and leaderboard positions.
Room and challenge participation records.
Social data
Friend connections you initiate within the app.
Challenge invitations sent or received.
Technical data
Authentication tokens stored locally on your device.
Basic server logs (IP address, request timestamps) for security and debugging. Logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days.
What we do NOT collect
Location data.
Contacts, camera, or microphone access.
Device advertising identifiers.
Any data for advertising or ad-targeting purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
To create and manage your account.
To operate core app features: solo games, challenges, multiplayer rooms, and leaderboards.
To enable social features such as friends and challenge invitations.
To maintain app security and prevent abuse.
To diagnose bugs and improve the app experience.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
Quizza uses the following third-party services:
Open Trivia Database (OpenTDB) – We fetch trivia questions from
opentdb.com.
No personal data is sent to OpenTDB.
Sign in with Apple – Handled entirely by Apple. Apple's
Privacy Policy
applies to that interaction.
We use Sentry (sentry.io)
for error monitoring and crash reporting. Sentry receives anonymous crash data (stack traces, device type, OS version)
to help us identify and fix bugs. No personal information, gameplay data, or advertising identifiers are sent to Sentry.
We do not integrate advertising networks or social media trackers.
4. Data Retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).
Guest accounts with no activity for 90 days may be automatically deleted.
Server logs are deleted after 30 days.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including password hashing (bcrypt),
JWT-based authentication, and encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS). No method of transmission
over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
Quizza is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information
from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact
us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Access – You can view your profile and game history in the app.
Correction – You can update your username in the app under Profile.
Deletion – You can delete your account directly in the app under Profile → Delete Account. Alternatively, email us and we will process the request within 30 days.
Data portability – Contact us to request a copy of your data.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, additional rights
may apply under GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the
"Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes
constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
